Bite-Sized Horror

Life is frantic. Sometimes you just don’t have time to do anything you’d like to do, let alone sit down and spend a few hours delving into a game. That’s where Greg Karber’s ‘Bite-sized Horror’ games are perfect.

These games, which are completely text-based and roughly 60 seconds long, are ideal for a quick burst of interactive horror. They vary in their narrative, but each has you making choices that lead towards a conclusion of your own making. In that respect, it’s like a mini Until Dawn. It’s possible to make the wrong choice, and end the story before it reaches its natural conclusion, but the advantage of being 60 seconds long? Just try again.

After stumbling across one Bite-sized Horror story a few months back, I was instantly impressed by the way the story was written, and have kept an eye out for each new story. It may not have much space in which to tell it, but each and every story manages to subvert the expectations of the reader. As much as I’d love to give you some examples, I won’t, because that would completely undermine the reason that Bite-sized Horror works so well.

Got a minute to spare? Play through some miniature horror stories yourself: Bite-sized Horror.
